The new GLC has already been revealed to the world as the successor of the GLK and is expected to hit dealerships in November. One of the characteristics of this new design are the Dynamic Select driving modes. These different driving modes transform the GLC into a completely different car. Take a look at the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC Dynamic Select Features and what each of them does.
The Eco driving program shifts the focus of the vehicle to saving fuel. It engages the start/stop function to turn the engine off at stop lights and it turns the display into a guide that tells you how efficiently you are driving. This driving program also turns on the sailing function, which is brand new this year. The sailing function disengages the clutch when you take your foot off the gas pedal, allowing the GLC to coast at an idle engine speed and reduce fuel consumption.
The comfort mode steals a little bit of the eco mode to maximize engine efficiency, but also loosens the suspension, transmission, and steering to make the ride more, well, comfortable.
Without throwing comfort completely out the window, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC Dynamic Select features a sport mode that turns off all the eco mode functions. The suspension is tightened, the transmission shifts faster, the steering lets up on power assistance to give you a better feel of the road.
You might say this program is too much for a crossover… Until you drive it. The GLC really gives you everything it has. Immediate pedal response, wide open exhaust, and extremely stiff suspension turn this lightweight crossover into a race car.
Completely customizable by the driver, you can pick and choose which characteristics you like from each mode, with the exception of sport+. If you want sport+, you have to go all out. This is useful though to really make the driving experience your own.
We know what you’re thinking; The 2016 GLC doesn’t know what it wants. That may be true, but it’s only catering to what we want, and that is everything. With slight variations, the Dynamic Select feature is currently available in other Mercedes-Benz models which can be found at Mercedes-Benz of Arrowhead. Stop in to look at the inventory.
