The New E-Class Leaves Mercedes-Benz with Nowhere to Go!

2017 Mercedes-AMG E43 New Features

As a more than solid replacement for the 2016 E400 4MATIC sedan, the E43 does more than just add a few more horsepower into the mix. In fact, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class might be one of the biggest technological jumps since the invention of DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes. Check out the best of the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E43 new features.

Exterior

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG E43 is currently slated to be the flagship sedan for the E-Class. Of course an E63 is in the works, but until then, the E43 has to look the part. To upgrade the outside of the E400, the paneling got a little more bulky and a little less chiseled. This takes away from the sporty look in our opinion but it makes it look more powerful and a lot more upscale.

Interior

The inside is where the magic begins to happen. The push-button has almost been completely replaced with LCD screens. To be more precise, there are two 12.3-inch screens in the E43; one for the instrument panel and one for climate controls and entertainment options. The sport sedan also gets new sport seats with better lateral support for 2017.

Engine

The engine isn’t new exactly, but if the numbers Mercedes-Benz released are correct, it is better than new! The 2017 E43 will use the same 3.0L biturbo V6 that was in the E400 except horsepower will be increased by more than 50. How is this even possible?

Transmission

What good would a refreshed engine be without a new transmission? The debut of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC brought with it a new 9G-TRONIC 9-speed transmission. This same transmission is going in the E43. This new transmission improves acceleration, efficiency, traction, and even comfort. The only other vehicle in the world with more gears is the new Ford F-150 Raptor with a 10-speed transmission.

DRIVE PILOT

DRIVE PILOT is what the new E-Class is all about. As the flagship E-Class, the E43 will come standard with this feature, basically turning the E-Class into a self-driving car. Previously, DISTRONIC PLUS was able to help drivers adjust speed on the highway automatically. DRIVE PILOT steps it up a notch to include the ability to follow the flow of traffic to the left and right even if there are no lines on the road. Pretty crazy, right?
