The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC Earns AMG Wings!

2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Specifications

We knew it was inevitable, we just didn’t know when it was going to happen. The Mercedes-Benz GLC finally earned its AMG wings with the 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC43. With the same engine as the AMG C43 Coupe and the 9-speed transmission that made its debut in the GLC300, you definitely don’t want to meet this son of an SUV in a dark alley. Just look at the specifications.

Engine

The GLC43 is powered by a 3.0L biturbo V6 engine. It is the same engine that you will find in the AMG C43 or the AMG SLC 43, featuring 362 horsepower, and 384 lb-ft of torque.

Acceleration

The GLC can launch itself from 0-60 in just 4.8 seconds. That is only .2 seconds slower than the SLC roadster, basically making the roadster obsolete, but we digress. This quick acceleration can be attributed to the 9G-TRONIC 9-speed transmission and the AMG performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, making changes every millisecond to make sure the SUV has enough power and grip.

Top Speed

The GLC43 will accelerate all the way to 155 miles per hour, where it is electronically limited. This top speed is a standard across the entire Mercedes-Benz lineup with the exception of the 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S, which allegedly will go 186 miles per hour.

Wheels

The dimensions of the GLC43 are the same as the GLC300, but the GLC43 does get uniqe 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels that you can’t get on the GLC300 or the GLC300 4MATIC. They have a 5-spoke design and they are painted with a high-gloss black. For the true sport enthusiast, upgrading to the Night Package will increase the size of the rims to 21 inches.

Tires

Wrapped around the wheels are mix-sized tires. In the front, you’ll find 255/45 R 20 on 8 x 20. In the back, they jump up to 285/40 R 20 on 9.5 x 20.

Brakes

The brakes on the GLC43 are also an upgrade from the GLC300. The front brake rotors have a diameter of 14.2 inches and the rear brakes are 12.6 inches across. They are internally ventilated and they are of course equipped with emergency braking driving-assistance features.

Release Date

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 won’t be available until this winter. It will likely come out in November and will be released worldwide, meaning you will be able to get it regardless of where you live. If you have any questions about the GLC43, scroll down to leave a comment.
