What is 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Car-to-X Communication?

2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Car-to-X Communication

The 2016 E-Class just hit dealerships this month, but Mercedes-Benz was hiding something up its  sleeve. Scheduled to be released next spring, The 2017 E-Class is the next generation of transportation. It is a giant leap towards autonomous and accident-free driving. That’s not all it is though. It is also extremely awesome. With things like Evasive Steering Assist, Remote Parking Pilot, and Pre-Safe Sound, it is hard to remember what year it is. Now, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class uses Car-to-X Communication to see the future.

2016 GLC Safety Features
Car-to-X Communication is a car-to-car networking service that warns drivers of dangers before they are seen. Here is how it works. If there is an icy road or a traffic jam, your car can send out a warning to other equipped cars in the vicinity. Likewise, if your car is equipped with Car-to-X technology, you can receive warnings from other cars to give you time to react or avoid the hazard. This also works in conjunction with emergency response vehicles. If an ambulance or a fire truck is coming up behind you, your car can tell you to get out of the way or pull over for a police officer. The only drawback is that we won’t be able to tell the officer that we didn’t see the lights anymore.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Car-to-X Communication system will be compatible with other vehicle makes as well so everyone on the road can benefit from this futuristic feature. That means that if you buy a new car in the next couple of years, it will be able to receive these warnings even if it isn’t a Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz is changing the safety game completely by avoiding accidents altogether. Some of this technology will be seen in the GLC when it comes out in November. Car-to-X Communication will run in the background of vehicle software. This means it does not need to be turned on or activated to receive the messages. This cuts back on distractions and reaction time.

What’s next, Car-to-Y Communication? All jokes aside, the technology is changing the way we transport ourselves. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class with Car-to-X Communication will be available in the spring of 2016. Don’t forget to stop in at Mercedes-Benz of Arrowhead to check out some of the current specials!
