The New Lights On The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Are Smarter Than Us

2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Lighting Features

Let’s face it; the lightbulb as we know it is dead. It had a good run but it is now almost entirely obsolete thanks to LEDs, or Light-Emitting Diodes. LEDs are small, but when you put them together with, say, a couple hundred other LEDs, then you have some serious light. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class lighting features will consist entirely of LEDs both inside and out.

2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Ambient Lighting

Ambient lighting is somewhat of a new concept in the automotive world. The idea is that different colored lights will greet you as you enter or exit your car in the night. These colors and themes can be personalized to be an expression of the driver and also provide passengers with safe entry and exit. In the case of the 2017 E-Class, the interior mood lighting will support 64 different colors, making for an almost infinite playbook of options for personalization.

To be available as an option, the 2017 E-Class can be equipped with high-resolution MULTIBEAM LED headlights. With this option, the car supports an Intelligent Light System and Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus. Although it is limited to standard or blue lights, even these headlights can be personalized. Each headlamp contains 84 independent LEDs that makes them bright, clear, and smart.

The rear tail lights on the 2017 E-Class will be part of one singular piece that extends across the trunk of the car. This smart light will constantly adjust brightness based on light levels outside and will feature a stardust visual aspect that is meant to look like a galaxy or the glow of a jet engine. This will not only look amazing, but will make driving at night safer as well.
