How Much Power Will the AMG GLS63 Have?

2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS Performance Specifications

Mercedes-Benz has just given up some information on the new 2017 GLS-Class and although it does not surprise us, we are amazed by the level of quality and performance that will be coming with it. Scheduled for a release date by the end of the year, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class performance specifications reach beyond the realm of logic and reason.

Comparison: GLE vs GLC

Trims

The GLS-Class will be available in four trims, just like its predecessor. The numbers in each trim will even be the same as the outgoing model. The difference, lies in the horsepower provided by each, and the transmission used to convert the power into forward motion.

The GLS350d, as you may have guessed, is the diesel model. All Mercedes-Benz models offer a diesel trim. They are arguably the most popular options in other countries, but here in the U.S., we prefer our gasoline engines. Because of this, we probably won’t see many of these on American roads.

GLS450 4M

Engine Horsepower Torque Transmission
3.0-liter V6 Biturbo 362 369 lb-ft 9-speed Automatic

The GLS450 significantly bumps up horsepower output by integrating the famous biturbo engine that Mercedes-Benz is so adept at producing. This trim is expected to be the most popular in the United States in terms of sales.

Engine Horsepower Torque Transmission
4.7-liter V8 Biturbo 449 516 lb-ft 9-speed Automatic

Did someone call for a bigger engine and another 100-horsepower jump? The GLS550 4M is something that might be referred to as a sleeper because it doesn’t have the flashy AMG accents and scoops, but it does have 450 horsepower and a 9-speed transmission.

AMG GLS63

Engine Horsepower Torque Transmission
5.5-liter V8 Biturbo 577 561 lb-ft AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7-speed Automatic

Ahh yes…the AMG model. We wouldn’t be offended at all if you said this trim is insane because it definitely is. With almost 600 horsepower and a longer chassis, you will need a Ferrari to keep up with this trim.

The GLS is not available for sale yet, but if you are interested, stop by our dealership to learn more or browse our inventory.
