The Sprinter 3500 is the largest version of the Sprinter sold for commercial use. It features a BLUETEC 4-cylinder engine and a 7-speed 7G-TRONIC transmission. We can’t imagine ever having to haul giant rocks in our line of work, but if we did, this would be the vehicle we would want to use.
This particular Sprinter Extreme concept has a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds. This is 2,500 more pounds than that of your standard Sprinter, and it does it with the base diesel engine. It also has a maximum payload capacity of 6,400 pounds. It is 20 feet long, over 95 inches tall, and comes with the choice of two wheelbase lengths
That’s right, we said you can buy it, but you don’t get the one you see here at CAS 2016. What you get is actually just the foundation. Mercedes-Benz hasn’t really released any more information that that, but we expect it would be unpainted, engine-free, and missing the bed on the back.
