Oil Pressure Warning Lights: Shaped like oil can, this symbol is an indicator of an issue with your car’s oil pressure system, which could mean that your engine and its parts are not getting sufficient lubrication which can cause wear and tear to your car. Get your oil pressure system checked at the nearest dealership immediately.

Engine Temperature Warning Light: Shaped like a thermometer in a liquid, the lighting up of this symbol is an indication of an overheating engine. If you see this symbol light up, check on the coolant or the antifreeze under your car’s hood and turn off your engine. Give it some time to cool down, and don’t open the hood while the engine is hot as it can cause burns or injuries from the hot steam or smoke that spews from the engine.

ABS Warning Light: The Anti-lock Braking System is in place to prevent the wheels of your car from locking up when you brake hard. When this symbol lights up, it is an indication that something is wrong with this system, and your vehicle should be looked over by a licensed mechanic. It is unsafe to continue driving with this warning light turned on.

Battery Alert Light: This symbol is an indication of a problem with the vehicle’s charging system, which could mean that a cable has come loose, or that the battery is damaged, or that there is some other electrical fault. In such cases, the car might refuse to start, or the lights on your dashboard may flicker and fade. Waiting too long to have your batteries checked would lead to a situation wherein you might have to jumpstart your vehicle.
