It combines affordability, efficiency, and luxury into one sleek and sophisticated package. Mercedes-Benz has released a lot of details about the new 2022 C-Class, such as safety tech, infotainment features, and powertrain details. The last of which, for many drivers, is the most important. If it isn’t fun to drive, it’s not worth it.

Powertrain and Performance

Every 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine with ISG and a 48V electrical system. It produces 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft normally, but with EQ Boost activated (that’s what the ISG and 48V electrical system are for), those numbers temporarily increase to 275 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. Yes, you read that right, an additional 148 lb-ft of torque. At the time of writing, Mercedes-Benz has not yet revealed the transmission options. FWD is standard, but 4MATIC AWD is available.

Speed and Acceleration

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class has an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph and can do 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds. That acceleration time trounces other similar displacement turbo-four engines. Similar engines in this class tend to do 0-60 mph in somewhere between 7-9 seconds.
