2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Park Pilot
A sneak peak at the 2017 E-Class is pinning jaws to the floor. It is still in the designing stage, but everything we have seen so far is light-years beyond other automakers in terms of technology and innovation. It makes the brand new GLC look like a children’s toy.
2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Features
One of the features that will accompany the 2017 E-Class when it comes out next year is the ability to park the car without even getting inside. That’s right, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Park Pilot function makes the car park itself without anyone inside.
The E-Class is already one of the most advanced vehicles on the market. It has automatic parking functions and driver-assistance features that are far beyond what other manufacturers offer. Park Pilot, which is what Mercedes-Benz is calling it, allows a driver to park a car in tight spaces that do not have room to open the door. Have you ever had to climb out of your window because you couldn’t get the door open? Problem solved.
First, the 2017 E-Class will determine whether it will fit in the space. Old news, right? Just wait. Once the spot is found, the driver may exit the vehicle and finish the job with only a smartphone. To start the app, a few tests need to be executed to make sure everything is working properly. This is kind of like a pre-flight check on an airplane. Perhaps that is why they are calling it Park Pilot. Then, as along as you don’t exceed the 10 foot buffer needed, you can slowly guide the car into the spot.
There is also an Explore Mode that, once turned on, will help the car guide itself into the space without any instruction or control from the driver. It does it by itself!
In a way, we wish Mercedes-Benz would have kept this information to itself for the time being. We have to wait a whole year before we see this on the road?! The 2017 E-Class is full of other never-before-seen features that are just as impressive so stay tuned.
