Mercedes-Benz Electric Vehicle VS Plug-In-Hybrid
Mercedes-Benz makes some of the best automobiles on the planet. What began as a combustion dream is turning into an electric reality with plug-in-hybrid cars, EVs, and Vision concept cars. Both hybrid and electric cars have been around for more than a decade, but they are just starting to become just as practical as combustion vehicles. Is it the right time to buy an electric vehicle, and should you go full electric or half?
Plug In Hybrid
The PIH platform has evolved to become better than pure gasoline drivetrains in almost every way. They are more powerful, more comfortable, and more efficient, obviously. They are still slightly more costly than combustion vehicles, but the gap is quickly diminishing. Five years ago, we would have said the Plug-In-Hybrid is the way of the future, but not anymore.
Mercedes-Benz Vision Concept
Mercedes-Benz is on an electric mission. With vehicles like the F 015 Luxury in Motion, Mercedes-Maybach Vision 6, and the Mercedes-Benz Vision Van, this much is clear. The electric brand is expanding exponentially under the Daimler AG umbrella. So much so, in fact, that Mercedes-Benz has announced it will decrease funding towards hybrid vehicles to focus more heavily on the EV brand.
Mercedes-Benz Generation EQ Electric Concept
The latest creation from Mercedes-Benz is a 400 horsepower SUV with 300 miles of full electric range. This is more than any electric car on the market, including Tesla, and could hit the streets in as little as 3 years. Having said that, if you are on the fence between Mercedes-Benz plug-in-hybrid and electric, we recommend finding an electric vehicle now or waiting a few years. Of course, the hybrid models are the best in the industry, but Moore’s Law is putting the technology into overdrive and even the current electric models are ahead of their time.
