Mercedes-Benz Luxury Electric Car
Right now, Tesla is the only company in the world to offer an electric luxury car. Hybrid performance and luxury has become very popular in the last few years, but competitors have yet to come out with fully-electric supplements for the Model S. When it comes to Mercedes-Benz luxury electric cars, the truth is that Mercedes-Benz is right on track with Tesla, if not ahead. Here’s why:
Five reasons to buy an electric or hybrid car
Why doesn’t Mercedes-Benz make electric cars?
The Mercedes-Benz lineup does include the B-Class. Unfortunately, the B-Class is a competitor for cars like the Chevy Bolt and the Ford Focus Electric. So why doesn’t Mercedes-Benz make a fully-electric S-Class? The answer is that Mercedes-Benz is waiting for the right opportunity to penetrate the market. Right now, Mercedes-Benz is outselling BMW for the first time in 10 years, meaning the company is growing and does not want to risk wasting its money when it knows it can sell what it already has. Also, just because the cars aren’t for sale doesn’t mean Mercedes-Benz isn’t on top of the technology. Just take a look at some of its concept cars.
Mercedes-Benz Concept Cars
Mercedes-Benz has been showing off concepts for more than a century. Historically, these concepts are performance based, but lately the focus shifted to convenient mobility. Take the F015 Luxury in Motion, for example. It has swiveling seats, touch screen windows, and doesn’t need a driver at all to get where it’s going. When these technologies get perfected in terms of reliability and cost, Tesla will have to fight for its life, not that it isn’t already.
Mercedes-Benz Uber
Recently, Uber purchased a large sum of Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedans. It is not public knowledge yet as to what the company will be doing with them, but there is talk that they will be used to test Uber autonomy in the next few years. Can you imagine getting picked up in an S-Class without a driver?
