2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA Diesel Release Date
The Mercedes-Benz GLA is an SUV (technically) that is available as a regular gasoline chugger or a diesel guzzler. Chugger and guzzler aren’t the best words to describe the unleaded and diesel engines because they are extremely efficient, but they are more fun to say and the point is that it is indeed made as a diesel SUV. The catch, though, is that the diesel is not available in the United States. If you are waiting for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA diesel release date in the states, you face imminent disappointment!
New Technology in the 2017 GLA250
Diesel GLA
The GLA has been available around the world as a diesel since its creation. It exists in three forms as a 1.5L or a 2.2L, providing 108 and 134 horsepower, respectively. Both are turbocharged and the 2.2L is also available with special tuning to create 168 horsepower. These all provide less power than the GLA250 that we are used to, but the real accomplishment is in the fuel economy ratings.
Diesel GLA in United States
These engines are to remain in production for 2017, but once again, they will not be available in the United States. For us Americans, we are left to fend for ourselves with the GLA250 and the Mercedes-AMG GLA45. Actually we think those are more fun anyway, but the diesel engine in the GLA overseas has gained a lot of attention as a reliable and extremely efficient machine.
2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA Diesel Release Europe
The GLA 200 CDI has been rumored to get somewhere in the 50 MPG range on diesel fuel. If you are in Europe or somewhere else where diesel GLA vehicles are sold, you can expect a fall release for all three models. If someone from Mercedes-Benz is reading this, hopefully he or she will pass on the word that we are waiting for the diesel (hint hint).
