2017 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Horsepower
Is there such a thing as too much horsepower? No way! No matter how much power you can pack under the hood, there is always room for improvement. Actually, we think General Custer would agree with us when we say that not enough horsepower can and will end you. Horsepower is always one of the first things that is brought up about a car, whether it be a sports car or a minivan, because horsepower is a strong indication of what will happen if your foot falls asleep on the pedal. With that being said, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class horsepower numbers will probably make you nauseous, so grab a chair and brace yourself to it.
Comparison: SL65 AMG VS. S65 AMG
The 2017 SL-Class release date will be here before you know it, but before you read on, you should know that each one of these engines features a biturbo forced induction system. We will consider this fact to be proof that we aren’t making these numbers up.
2017 SL450 Horsepower
Previously known as the SL400, the SL450 may be the “entry” trim, but it’s no Metris. With the 3.0-liter V6 that comes with it, you are still looking at 362 horsepower, which is a 33-horsepower increase from last year. With its new muscles, the SL450 will get you to 60 miles per hour in a hurry. In fact, if you have 4.9 seconds to spare, why not go 60?
2017 SL550 Horsepower
What do you do when you need more power? If you guessed bigger engine, you are doing pretty well. The 4.7-liter V8 in the SL550 produces 449 horsepower. The impressive thing about this engine is the torque, maxing out at 516 pounds per square inch.
2017 AMG SL63 Horsepower
Leave it to AMG to blow something out of the water. The AMG SL63 pumps out 577 horsepower at only 5,500 RPM, which is magic as far as we are concerned.
2017 AMG SL65 Horsepower
Can you say, “more horsepower than the Mercedes-AMG GT S?” To make a point, we are going to have to insist that you say it. The SL65 forces 621 horsepower down your throat combined with a man-slaughtering 738 pounds of torque. So good, you guys.
Is everybody okay? Congratulations! You now know more than any man should. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class will be released early next year with all of the horsepower numbers we promised you. Can you imagine if they had these in 1876? More like, General Custer’s Fast Stand, you dig?
