Memorial Day Parade
Is there a better way to honor victims of war than by standing up and cheering for veterans as they march to the United States National Anthem? There really isn’t. It starts at Glendale Elementary School and eventually makes it’s way to the War Memorial for the ceremonies so keep the CLA close by.
Memorial Day Ceremonies
Taps, twenty-one gun salute, all the authentic Memorial Day stuff. If you’re new in town, the Glendale Veterans War Memorial is located at the public library in the front lawn. The monument honors veterans of all wars, but it also features pieces from the USS Arizona.
Arrowhead Towne Center
The Arrowhead Towne Center is located on 75th Avenue and features shopping and eating opportunities in Glendale, perfect for a Memorial Day off.
Thunderbird Park
Feeling adventurous? Thunderbird Park consists of 1,000 acres of desert preserve. There are trails for jogging and biking as well as other fun things such as horseback riding.
Murphy Park
Murphy Park is a hotbed for activity. There isn’t anything happening at the park on Memorial Day, so you can enjoy a peaceful day of relaxation or you can go there on the 28th to see the Stagedoor Alumni perform at 2 PM. The park will also be featuring a Movies by Moonlight at the Murph event on May 20th featuring Big Hero 6.
