Mercedes-AMG celebrates 130 years of motorsport excellence. This milestone dates back to 1894, marking the first-ever automotive competition in which a Daimler engine claimed victory. To commemorate, Mercedes-AMG unveiled the highly exclusive AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport at the 2024 Pebble Beach Automotive Week. Limited to just 13 units worldwide, this special model represents a perfect blend of modern motorsport technology and the legendary design of race cars from the 1950s. Unmatched Performance with Cutting-Edge Aerodynamics

The New Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport is not limited by homologation restrictions. This freedom allowed engineers to optimize the iconic Handcrafted AMG 6.3-liter V8 naturally aspirated engine to reach a stunning 671 horsepower. A special exhaust system and the absence of an air restrictor further elevate its power output. Its sequential six-speed racing transmission, mounted on the rear axle, connects via a carbon fiber torque tube for superior performance. This unique configuration delivers precision and speed, elevating it above the standard GT3 models.

Aerodynamically, the Edition 130Y has seen extensive updates. Its downforce has increased by 15%, aided by a new front splitter, modified side skirts, and a wider rear wing. The innovative Drag Reduction System (DRS) allows drivers to adjust the rear wing at the touch of a button, reducing drag and achieving speeds over 196 mph. Despite high downforce, the DRS maintains aerodynamic balance and enhances speed during intense acceleration.

Top-Tier Safety and Braking Systems

This limited-edition GT3 Edition 130Y has all the advanced safety features Mercedes-AMG is known for. A carbon fiber safety cell, a five-point harness, a steel roll cage, and an emergency hatch ensure maximum driver protection. The model is equipped with racing ABS and a multi-adjustable traction control system. The braking system is inspired by Formula 1â„¢ technology, with carbon brake discs replacing the heavier steel used in regular GT3 models. This contributes to a significant weight reduction, making the Edition 130Y even more agile and responsive on the track.

Design: A Tribute to Racing History

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport draws design inspiration from the legendary Mercedes-Benz 300 SL W 194 race car of 1952. Classic elements from this historic vehicle, like the silver paint finish reminiscent of the famous Silver Arrows, are combined with modern design cues. The front fenders and radiator grille feature blue accents, a nod to the winning race cars in 1952. Weight-optimized 18-inch magnesium wheels, carbon fiber components, and the prominent AMG crest further link the model to its modern-day counterparts.

Inside, the limited edition continues the blend of tradition and innovation. The cockpit features a high-resolution Bosch DDU 10 display for an immersive driving experience. The interior design pays homage to the Mercedes-Benz SLR 300 models, with checkered fabric seats, brown leather headrests, and a custom-made steering wheel. The exclusive “GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport” badge highlights the vehicle’s rarity and prestige.
