The Mercedes-Benz GLK and the BMW X3 are two crossover vehicles that set the mold for the rest of the industry. With upscale luxury, exceptional gas mileage, and sporty performance all in one, it is no wonder why these vehicles have skyrocketed in popularity in the last decade. The GLK and the X3 are very similar cars, especially from the outside. They have boxy features and aggressive grilles that embody each respective brands culture and history while also hinting towards a future of adrenaline.
On the inside, they share many of the same features and capabilities. They both feature the same interior layout that they have had for five years and they both offer a comfortable place that you will have no trouble falling asleep in, although we don't condone it. Actually, the differences don't become very apparent until you pop the hood.

In the engine bay, you will find two distinct differences between these two models. The difference we speak of is the V6 in the GLK. With a healthy 3.5L V6, the GLK provides benefits that the turbocharged 4-cylinder in the BMW simply cannot. For instance, turbocharged vehicles are subject to turbo lag, which is the time it takes for the turbo to spool up to full speed to provide the power it needs to boost the engine. With a larger, naturally aspirated engine, drivers can enjoy instant throttle response.
The second issue with turbocharging is the lack of torque. This is a direct association with turbo lag because torque is produced at low RPMs, but the BMW needs these low RPMs to get the turbo spinning. If you are in the market for a new luxury SUV, the Mercedes-Benz GLK is certainly a better investment than the BMW X3.
